In 1977 (by coincidence the
same year Paul Bowyer moved to Dubai) I was employed to assist in the
establishment of Arabtec Technical Construction Co. (Arabtec). Commencing
with small contracts the Company developed into one of the leading
construction companies in the U.A.E. with an annual turnover exceeding Dhs
1.5 Billion.
I
was appointed Managing Partner of Arabtec Interiors for the period 1986 –
1994 undertaking the complete spectrum of interior work from tendering for
the contracts, to overseeing their completion. I worked very closely with
most 5-Star Hotels in Dubai producing very high standards of work within
very tight programme constraints.
During 1994 and 1995 I was
employed by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum through Arabtec as
Project Manager for his properties in the United Kingdom for contracts in
excess of Dhs 100 million.
In 1996 I Established
Arabtec Hotel Interiors, a division of Arabtec concentrating wholly on the
fit-out of 5-Star Hotels worldwide. Turnover within 4 years of
establishment had reached Dhs 400 million.
In the period 1997 to 1999 I
was the Project Manager for Jumeirah Beach Resort Hotel fit-out (project
value Dhs 80 million) involving the complete fit-out of all Public Areas,
Conference Centre and Back of House Areas. In the same period I was the
Project Manager for the Burj Al Arab fit-out employing over 650 men
(project value Dhs 78 million). We completed the fit-out of all Public
Areas, Banquette Hall, Health Club and Restaurants.
In
April 2001 I Joined AMBB Interiors as Managing Partner to establish and
manage an Interiors Division concentrating on selected Clients. Since then
the Division has flourished and having established an annual turnover of
Dhs 60 - 80m it is my aim to maintain this manageable level, the focus
being quality rather than quantity. We offer the highest levels of service
for all kinds of fit-outs including hotels, restaurants, offices, banks
and shops, and with our own joinery and marble divisions we are able to
offer greater control over the quality and timely completion of our
projects.
